A podcast by travelers, for travelers.

Where do you find your travel information these days?

If your answer is social media, chances are you have a love-hate relationship with how travel is portrayed on these platforms. Globetrotters podcast is a travel show that goes beyond the shallow social media captions and scripted TV shows, by highlighting travel stories from diverse people from around the world.

Not into stories? Our Layover episodes are your one-stop shop for the latest travel news, emerging travel trends and advice from experts. We investigate trends and topics and look into how you can make the most of an adventure without breaking the bank.

What We Stand For

On social media and traditional media channels, it can sometimes seem like everyone is traveling everywhere and often. But in reality, a majority of the world’s population has never left their home country. Even in the United States, one of the wealthiest countries in the world, one study found that half of all Americans have never set foot outside the border.

We believe travel is an invaluable window for individual growth and cultural education.

Globetrotters podcast aims to provide a platform for everyday people to share their unique travel experiences through sincere and diverse storytelling. We hope to inspire people from all backgrounds to look beyond their own borders, literally and figuratively.

Our Values

  • Diversity & Inclusivity

  • Interpersonal Growth

  • Cultural Education

  • Transparency

Our Commitment

We believe travel should be for everyone — but we are aware that not everyone in the world has access to it. We commit to using our platform to offer constructive solutions to those with limited resources, and acknowledge our privilege in being able to start this conversation in the first place.

Jonathan Otero

CREATOR / CO-HOST / EDITOR

Jonathan is a travel enthusiast of Nicaraguan descent. Originally from Los Angeles, California. He moved at the age of 17 to northern California to attend the University of California, Berkeley.

In his youth, he seldom traveled. It wasn’t until he joined a mariachi band at the age of 9 that he got a few opportunities to travel locally – mainly the Southwest United States. He credits his 7 year musical experience as the genesis for his desire to travel internationally.

He now works as the Director of Strategic Partnerships and Growth for an event management company headquartered in San Francisco, California. On his experience working in the industry he states, “I am fortunate that my career grants me the opportunity to travel the world and meet brilliant and unique individuals from different cultural backgrounds and socioeconomic status.”

Maximille Gonzales

CHIEF COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER / CO-HOST

Max is a freelance photographer, tour leader, travel addict, adventure enthusiast, wildlife and nature advocate, hidden gem seeker and doggo dad from Richmond, California.

Early on, Max decided to ditch the 9-5 mindset and since then, has backpacked to 30 countries and counting. He ignited his hustle in the tourism industry and in fact, he loved leading tours so much that Max and a few of his friends created an adventure tourism company based in Colombia.

Currently, Max is living in Northern California where he bounces between his photography business, leading tours all over the United States and sharing stories of exploration with Globetrotters.
